 1. Wash Under Running Water

 Leviticus 15:13     Now when the man with the discharge becomes cleansed from his discharge,   then he shall count off for himself seven days for his cleansing;   he shall then wash his clothes and bathe his body in running water and will become clean. 

1846 in Vienna death rate amongst women giving birth in hospitals was as high as 30% Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis investigated the reason Doctors did not wash their hands when going from patient to patient     Germ theory of disease was not yet understood     Washing hands reduced the mortality rate to 2% Washing under running water carries the germs away Washing in standing water leaves the germs in place Mikvahs were required to have running water 

2. Quarantine the Sick Leviticus 13:46     [The one with leprosy] 46He shall remain unclean all the days during which he has the infection;   he is unclean. He shall live alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp. 

Was not until the 17th Century that the germ theory of disease and the practice of quarantining the sick   were developed The Bubonic plague killed 40‐60% of the European population Many lives could have been saved during the black plague in Europe if this had been practiced Jewish people Less Effected (reduced deaths by up to 50%) Due to: 1. Hand washing 2. Sanitation 3. Separating the ill 4. Rapid burial of the dead Because of this, the Jews were even blamed for causing the plague by some communities 

3. Information in the Blood 

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement. Hebrews 9:22     And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood,   And without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Genesis 3:7 (Man ‐ by his efforts ‐ attempts to covers his sin)     Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked;   and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. Genesis 3:24 (God ‐ by the shedding of innocent blood ‐ covers sin)     YEHOVAH God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them. Early medical practices included bloodletting because they did not realize the life‐sustaining nature of blood George Washington died at the hands of his doctors from blood letting     40% of the blood was drained from his body prior to his death Blood is how oxygen, hormones and nutrients get to the cells of our bodies. Contrary to this practice, blood transfusions are given to strengthen people. 

 1. The Earth Floats Free in Space:

2. The Earth is a “Circle”    Isaiah 40:22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,  And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. 

     The Bible is accused of promoting a “flat earth” – this is false Galileo was placed on trial for espousing a heliocentric system and not a circular earth

 3. Universe is Expanding Job 9:8     Who alone stretches out the heavens Isaiah 42:5 Thus says God YEHOVAH, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread out the earth and its offspring, Who gives breath to the people on it And spirit to those who walk in it, Jeremiah 51:15 It is He who made the earth by His power, Who established the world by His wisdom, And by His understanding He stretched out the heavens. Zachariah 12:1 The burden of the word of YEHOVAH concerning Israel. Thus declares YEHOVAH who stretches out the heavens,   lays the foundation of the earth,   and forms the spirit of man within him, Until the 1920s it was believed that the universe was static in size The universe is continually expanding and the more distant the galaxy, the faster they are moving outward. 

 1. Oceanography Psalm 8:8 8 The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, Whatever passes through the paths of the seas. 9O YEHOVAH, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth!

 1. First Law of Thermodynamics Genesis 2:1     Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 

     1st Law: Energy cannot be created or destroyed Energy and matter can be converted into one another     Photosynthesis provides the energy for plants to grow and create glucose     Wood/coal/oil can be burned to give off heat that came from the energy used to form them   The total amount of energy in the universe is unchanging

 2. Second Law of Thermodynamics Romans 8: 19   For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. Hebrews 1:10‐11 10And, “YOU, LORD, IN THE BEGINNING LAID THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH, AND THE HEAVENS ARE THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS; 11 THEY WILL PERISH, BUT YOU REMAIN; AND THEY ALL WILL BECOME OLD LIKE A GARMENT, 

     2nd Law of Thermodynamics     Entropy [disorder, chaos] increases over time Initial creation was free of entropy because it was free of sin Adam sinned ushering in entropy and death as God’s judgment for disobedience   The new earth of Revelation 21 will again be free of sin, death and entropy

 3. Nature of Light Job 38:19‐20,24 19 “Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place, 20 That you may take it to its territory And that you may discern the paths to its home? 24 “Where is the way that the light is divided, …? 

     Light is not physical in the way atoms and subatomic particles are physical Light is a particle that acts like a wave Science did not know until the time of Sir Isaac Newton that light could be “divided”     Into the seven colors of the spectrum 

4. Light and Radio Waves Job 38:35 “Can you send forth lightnings that they may go And say to you, ‘Here we are’? 

     Lightnings: reference to electromagnetic radiation in all forms All electromagnetic radiation travels at the speed of light (like lightening) Electromagnetic radiation can be manifest as speech   Not discovered until 1864 when Maxwell discovered the electricity and light were two forms of the same entity   ‐ electromagnetic radiation Basis of modern telecommunications.
